Here a spinnerbait tip for you.

One problem many anglers have is tying a polomar knot on a spinnerbait. The wire arm, swivel and blades often get caught up and tangled in the fishing line when trying to tie the polomar knot. Plus you need such a big loop to clear the wire frame. Next time, slip the point of the hook into the spinnerbaits split ring attached to the blade. This will create a much smaller profile and help keep the arm and blades out of the way while your tying your knot. In the photo, the spinnerbait on the left is wide open, while the spinnerbait on the right has the hook point inside the split ring. You can see how the colapsed frame will make tying your knot much easier. Thats my handy tip for today.

Never though of that! I always just give up and tie a normal knot ( idk what it's called) that looks like it helps thanks

Good tip Keith. I don't tie the Palomar knot for spinnerbaits myself, but I know a lot of guys who do and a lot of them will actually tie the knot without using the spinnerbait and then slipping the arm of the spinnerbait into the loop before they tighten it down. It sounds a lot more complicated than it is.

My tip - don't forget to remove the hook from the split ring AFTER tying the knot.

I sometimes store my spinnerbaits this way, too. Not so much since I got a spinnerbait box to hang them in, but this definitely makes it easier to fit them in a 3700 box or whatever.
Haven't had any issues with the arm staying bent after releasing it from the hook, either.

I use silicone skirts, gold and silver plated blades, ball bearing swivels made especially for spinnerbaits, and the head wire assembly I purchase premade.

Throw it out. Reel it in. Throwing around cover helps...

Yep, they work best around cover. Open water, not so much. I also will often vary my retrieve, but usually a medium speed retrieve works best, and adding extra action to your rod durring the retrieve can pay off big, like short jerks, dancing the rod tip to make the lure look like it's wounded pray, letting it drop on occation, and so on.

Since this thread has evolved into fishing tips. When faced with acres and acres of submerged grassbeds(milfoil). Most guys reach for a Trap.....I much prefer to swim a SB over just over the tops......Deadly

....Usually just a slow steady deal with the occasional drop in a hole. So in a way it's open water, but in another way it's anything but. Clear water and polarized glasses help.
