Worst joke I ever read

A woman is in the maternity ward, having just given birth to her baby. The doctor comes in, cradling the child in his arms. As he is about to give it to the woman, he drops it on the ground, kicks it into the wall then throws it out the window.

"OH MY GOD, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY BABY?!?!?!"

The doctor turns to her, smiles, and says, "April Fools. It was a stillborn."

And it was on a top ten joke list?

I can guarantee that "joke" was NOT written OR TOLD by Bill Cosby. It seems today, humor MUST be vulgar, shocking and/or crass to be considered "funny". I'm now going to watch my Jack Benny CD's for a good chuckle.

When I grow up, I hope I never goof up.
Just so you perfect few are aware the BAD post was a knee jerk reaction and it would have died BUT for a few perfect few WHO BROUGHT IT BACK TO LIFE.
Since it wouldn't let me delete I assumed it would die and be forgotten.
But I guess smarter people than me seem to think it's worth reading or they WOULDN"T be posting to it , it's similar to a 'bump' in my eyes.

And Toney the last time YOU *****ed about me posting jokes YOU in turn the sameday posted a hummorist thread so am I supposed to run things by YOU to see if YOU find it hummoring before I post something. As you see, I've learned the names as I believe was also YOUR request.

In the future, if there is one, think about MAYBE PMing me INSTEAD OF INCREASING READERSHIP TO A POORLY CHOOSEN POST that was sincerely regretted.

Oh and Kevin, I went to 12 fishing forums and this may surprise you....the number one section of EVERYONE of them had EXTREMELY more 'nonfishing posts in thier PROPER place than any other section, sometimes 10x as many. Including THIS site along with ultimate bass included. So what sites are you visiting that talk nothing but fishing?

Joe, there is a very big difference between tastefull humor and something disgusting . I think most would be easy to tell the difference. I think you knew it was out of line before you posted it hence you described it as the worst. You yourself once asked what could we as members do to help this site grow. Posting jokes like this is not the answer. It should be easy to ask yourself a simple question before you start a new post of jokes. Is this likley to offend some people? If so, then why post it here? I stated that this is a fishing site not because i think we should never post about anything not fishing related,but it seems like at least most of the posts should be fishing related and that none should be obviously distateful.

PS, do you not have an edit button? Could you simply edit it down to a statement that you decided to delete the post? I edited my first response to change an offensive word to a less offensive word

Humor is a very hard thing to judge.
What one person finds very funny another thinks is very distastefull.

After a period of time, I'm not sure how long, the "Edit" button disappears, so the original post can no longer be edited. I think it takes maybe a day or two before it's set in stone.

Look, Joe is obviously very sorry for it. It was in bad taste, a joke meant to be in bad taste, but most everyone here is an adult and capable of brushing it off. He gave an apology. I don't think his sincerity can be doubted.

There have been worse things posted, particularly because his post was not directed at anyone and portrayed a fictional event. I personally was not shocked by it, just thought it was a strange, humorless punchline.

I think maybe people are misunderstanding the title of the forum section.

It's not as if he flew the joke in under the radar.

Or maybe he should have titled the thread "Warning: Dead Baby Joke".

Maybe that wouldn't even work, as the people offended by the joke would probably instead just be offended by the title itself.

Wanting to understand the uproar over this joke, I have shared it with a lot of people (except expecting mothers of course ), and they all thought it was over the top, yet still funny in a sick humor kind of way. Every one of them laughed, albeit with a grimace on their face.

I'm not saying we need one of these a week, but can we not cast Joe into the lake of fire just yet?

You never know who is personally hit wrong by something like this. If someone had a miscarriage in their family, I can understand the pain it would cause.

A few years back I jokingly said something about a poster's wife. Nobody could take it seriously. But it turns out, I did not know, that he was having marital problems. It was my mistake. But he could not be consoled, no matter how I apologized. And I thought, everyone jokes about peoples wives or mothers, its a common thing...we did it in middle school.. But still, for this guy, it was off limits.

If you walk up to 10 strangers and say to them with your most sincere voice and with your most genuine look "I heard about your situation....is there anything I can do to help?" at least 7 or 8 of them will say "Who told you about that?"

You just can't walk around on egg shells all the time, but you also don't want to be the "guy" who manages to p_ss everybody off all the time.

Everything we joke about could be "offensive" to someone.

The next time someone makes a joke about getting a hook in their finger, will a member who is a hemophiliac get butthurt over the insensitivity regarding their condition?

I like humor as much as anyone, more than many probably. That said there is nothing funny about a dead baby, that's a line no one that has ever had (not to mention lost) a child would cross. That is the bottom of the pit of BAD taste and while many "comedians" don't hesitate to use offensive humor, even make a reputation on it, it really doesn't fit in the spirt of this website. When you go to see a "commedian" you probably know what the material will be like, and have an idea what to expect. Even with the TITLE of the original post - I ddin't expect what I read.

I'm not throwing anyone under the bus, they can post what they want and by the same token those that may be offended have the right to say so also. My original response was tempered - if you can believe that - and I'm done commenting on the most poor sense of judgement* I've seen here yet. The mistake has been acknowledged, I think he sincerly regrets it, and that's acceptable for me to move on.

*other, possibly equally, offensive commentary has been posted - I myself am probably guilty - BUT, those comments I remember (at least on my part) were intentional and specifically directed. I do not belive the offensive nature of the original posting was intentional, so I classify it as an "error of judgement", not an intentional attempt to offend anyone. Unfortunate.
