Is it a creature, a lizzard, a craw, a bug? It's all in one, depending on which appendages you remove.
This is one bait, when part of it gets ripped off by a fish, that can be reused as a different looking bait.

Other than a couple of bags of Brush Hogs that I sometimes C-rig with I find myself not knowing really what to do with them. What techniques and/or situations do you guys feel better about a creature than say a worm or a jig? and why? .

Spawning time.
But even better during hatch and fry stage.

I will use a creature as a jig trailer too.
My preference is Rage Space Monkey cause when fished on a faster retreive the tail end realy kicks water. Leaving it open to numerous techniques which includes carolina rigging them and swim jig them.
So a good trailer too.

'I' use a tungsten nose weight or a weighted belly hook most often.
I use Mustad adjustables and I want the creature to 'fall' flat or belly first.
Really a deadly spawn tool.

I use them a lot for pitching to cover. I will use them when I don't want the bulky profile of a jig or when pitching a jig isn't a good option due to vegitation. I also like them on a t-rig or c-rig when I want a larger profile or more action. They also make good jig trailers when you need a different profile.

Paca craw place on a jig when timid later in summer they will hit it by itself,sweet beaver flip or T rig,bushhog crig.
Those are normal standbys one sometimes has to switch to slower presentations because of conditions.Id much rather toss pink in the pads or around bridges.

Toned it down a tad or you could go blind

Love em! A few I've had luck with in recent years are the Zoom Baby Brush Hog, Owner Yuki Bug, and Yum Hawgtail.

Order a back of Havoc Wide loads, and Havoc Pit Bosses the other day as well. Looking forward to trying those!

I like to use my creature baits t rigged with a bobber stop to peg the weight to the hook. I use them when fishing around heavier vegitation like milfoil, grass, ect. I use a jig early on in the season from ice out untill the spawn. But once the spawn is over, I'm using the creature baits more. By then, my lakes are getting quite a bit of vegitation growth. For me, about two weeks after the spawn seems to be a killer time for creature baits pitched into vegitation in the 6-12 foot range. They will fall faster through the vegitation than a jig and bring on strikes I don't get from a jig in that situation. Beavers from Reaction Innovation and Strike King along with Yum Craw Papies are my favorites. I like the old Yamamoto Creature bait, that that sucker is so tender I can only catch one fish on it and then have to replace it.
