Keep grubs and trailer from sliding down

The barbs on jigs and spinnerbaits fail to hold a soft plastic lures or trailers.

You can buy plastic coated wire for making floral arrangements at Walmart or any place that has crafts.

Method:
Wrap the wire once around the line tie of the jig. After using pointed nose pliers to pull the wire tight, snip one end close and then press it tight. Make an L shape of the long end that's left, snip to the proper width and swing into the soft plastic making it stay up close to the lead.

Done!

Now when I order jig heads, they don't have to have a barb (which I prefer because it does less damage to grub or trailer). (In fact if I don't need the gram or two of weight and I prefer to cut it off with wire cutters.)

Note: make sure you use stainless steel safety wire or plastic coated floral arrangement wire. Either wire can be changed easily if needed, but shouldn't rust.

Note: I use strap zip ties to attach skirts. Fish could care less.!!

For years I put up with plastics dropping back on the hook and was thrilled when I came up with these ideas about eight years ago and used them ever since. The zip strap idea came to me two years ago and now I no longer need thread, a vice or bobbin ever again, plus I can change skirt colors fast and easy on board!

No one in all the time I've posted these ideas have ever given feedback whether they were tried and worked. One of you would be the first and much appreciated and reinforce the idea for fellow anglers!

I fixed the problem of plastics sliding away from the jig head by filing the lead collar to as thin as possible without quite reaching the hook shank, but leaving the barb. Gives me another winter project.
