Glorious clouds and light rain as we pulled away from the ramp tonight and then the clouds parted and the sun came out..dang thought we had a chance. So I went back in the creek and we went to work. And as predicted in Golden hour they turned on.

Again with the all day clouds and they clear up and give us bright sunshine all afternoon...BAH!
Another tough trip. Golden hour didn't save us tonight. They never turned on for us anyway. Great crew, great conversation. Oh yeah, no bass tonight but we did bag a nice Potomac Pike. Mike's dinner for Monday night. Capt Dave

I can't wait for my next trip up that way. I am hoping to get a shot at one of those exotic fish.

Well, probably not. I live in the "magic" zone.
The water gets too hot for the northern species and too cold for the southern species. We might get them, mean while, I still get the occasional Bowfin. |

Mother nature finds a way,hot 90 f water can catch fish in 1 ft of water under pads, trout stocked in streams that empty into ky lake sometimes wander around the lake, caught at times 15 miles away from stocking point in summer on crankbaits, know because several have brought blunt nosed stockers to weigh in to prove it in july, apparently deep enough with enough oxygen still not only for them to survive but be active feeders,in the 12-14 ft zone.
W.Va state record trout caught out of a stream no longer stocked as they believed they couldn't survive. Let alone reproduce. |

Like I said ... we might get them.
During the height of summer, lots of water here is in that 90 degree + range, and LMB are caught in it every day. But they've had eons to adapt. The Snakeheads will probably adapt into it, too ... but I doubt if it'll be in my lifetime. |

Every spring on the Chesapeake Bay water shed the rains come. The top portion of water is as fresh as tap water. The Snakehead moves down this sweet water to take up residence in feeder creeks all along the salty water bay. It is said that on a two day rain deluge they will climb up your downspouts and live in your gutters.
