Long before we advertised on his TV show I'd been watching him for years on TV for tips and advice on this and that. As all will admit even if not a tourney fishermen, it's a politcal world out there with all the changes in the entry fees and sponsorships edging into the fishing world that we've all been reading about. I believe and feel Roland knows he's had enough of the competition and wants to relax more and not have to be on guard for all the political gestures and pressures relating to competing. I will say this in closing. After meeting Roland and Walt Reynolds (manager) last year at the 2004 Classic and agreeing to pick us up as a small company advertiser and try and help us grow into the market place says something about Roland Martin Productions. Very honorary! They've bent over backwards with their help sharing with us their known and trusted vendors to help promote our products with our new packaging. I can't say enough good about the oganization. My Sincerest, Happy Retirement Roland Martin! Mike Rice Founder http://www.prosoftbaitglue.com |

That's why when you catch a 2 pounder you call it a Roland Martin 10 pounder

I heard Roland was a jerk. Still everyone on the earth knows that he is an incredible fisherman. I think if I were 65, or even 45, and in his shoes financially, I'd get out too. The tourney lifestyle seems to emphasize exactly what I DO NOT like about bass fishing. Besides, Bill Dance needs a sidekick.

SON! its that time. As an older angler that has been fishing for bass over a 46 year time span I know what he is saying. I still catch a lot of bass but now it is from knowledge more than endurance. I used to fish 12 hour night tournamnets and back to back 8 hour day tournamnets, now I am a 5 or 6 hour a day guy. A lot of the guys that we have always .watched and learned and listened to will be going away in the next few years I have not always agreed with things that Roland said or did but I do respect his accomplishments and carreer. Happy and prosporous retire to Roland, Fish2win

Well there still is Scott on the tour fishing.I think Roland should give Mike Iconelli some tips on how to make the fish look bigger on television, when the idiot sets the hook, spews its a big one, a monster while he tap dances on the deck and then boats a sorry looking fish , only to yell and scream some more for the camera.Imagine all of that for a 1 lb fish. I'm willing to bet that within a few years everytime the tv shows IKE yelling over a bass he caught, it will get old with the audience and something new will grab them...its like anything else, when new its a novelty, once everyone hears and see's it for a thousand times, its not so novel......

I have to admit Roland is a jerk. One time when I was at a fishing convention Roland Martin was there and I asked him for a autograph and I was probably 12 years old at the time and he walked away. I remember talking for a hour with Alton Jones who is a very nice guy.
