Well, the fishing still remains as good as it gets here on Lake Fork. RED HOT.
If numbers is your thing now is the time to set up a trip. The big fish are moving and there is a chance to get the fish of a life time. The fish are scattered from the bank out to the 25 and 30 foot areas. You can pick where you want to fish. This is good for the bank fisherman and the deep structure fisherman. Baits have been almost anything you want to throw. If you are trying to learn to worm fish this is a great time as you will get a lot of bites right now on a Texas rig. Lake Fork Trophy Bait and Tackle Baby Ring Fries or Twitch worms fished Texas Rigged around grass or in the creeks is a great pattern right now. The Twitch worm fished wacky has been my best numbers bait right now. Spinner baits fished on windy points has been very good for better fish, and with the wind blowing off and on almost every other day you can find plenty of these areas to work the bait in. The Wave Tiki stick fished over grass weightless has been another great pattern. I like to use a 4/0 hook to get a better hook up ratio. I fish this bait on 15 pound line and a medium heavy rod. The Baby Tiki stick fished on a drop shot wacky style has been very productive out on the deep humps and roadbeds. The deep water has been full of yellow bass and bass. The Jigging spoon, Tail spinners, swim baits, jigs, spinner baits, and the Drop Shot are all good deep water baits. The key is to find the bait fish and fish together, you can either vertical jig the area or back off and throw at the area and swim the baits back thru the area. The spinner bait is a good bait to throw out and let it go to the bottom and pump it off the bottom and let it fall back down. The bite will come on the fall. If you don’t like to catch the YELLOW BASS use only worm type baits but you still may catch a few but you chances or less. The bass will eat the worm. But I will assure you I have caught some big bass on jigging spoons along with the bar fish as there times the bass will only eat a spoon or a tail spinner. There will be time when you will not move the spoon or tail spinner. All you will have to do is raise your rod tip just getting the bait off the bottom and hold it and the fish will hit it sitting still. The crappie are moving on the main lake and there are some good keepers showing up. 25 to 35 foot of water has been good depths. Small minnows and jigs have been the ticket. I still have some November and December dates open if you want to bass or crappie fish give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088 |
