Polarized Glasses
Well i decided that i spend most of my time in streams and mostly in a VERY shallow pond and that polarized glasses would probably be a good investment. I don't have that much to buy a pair, but i was wondering what you guys think a great pair of polarized glasses would be from cabelas is?

Wal-mart sells $6 Strike King glasses, just gray lenses though. Amber lenses are the best for a variety of sky conditions. You should be able to find decent pairs of polarized glasses at BPS, Gander Mountain, and Cabela's for $10 - $15.

Definently get them! Everybody should have some sight fishing or not. Kills the glare on the surface.

Walmart polarized glasses will do the job. I don't fish without polarized glasses.

Mine are definately unflattering.
You can see the bass before it comes off your line! Now you can be that much more upset about it. They are great for blocking glare while driving too.

Yeah, the Strike King cheapos are actually pretty decent. I've stepped on them several times without breaking them. Pretty flexible plastic. If nothing else they will convince you that polarized glasses are an essential tool to have. You'll see structure that you never knew existed in ponds you've fished your whole life.

The one problem with plastic lenses is that they scratch up easily. Been there done that.

If you're gonna' spend $20, I suggest you get amber or vermillion colored lenses. For the variety of sky and water conditions I deal with, these seem to work best for me.

Wal-mart sells Strike King clip-ons to go over prescription glasses. I believe they were $7.

Instead of clip ons, save up for a pair of Cocoons , they fit over top of your glasses. They are $40.00, but worth it.The darker lenses seem to work better. P N J

wal mart also sells a new Hibdon series from Solar bat and they come with a carrying case and are very nice. They will help you a lot in seeing further through the water. The glasses are about $10

Maui Jim makes the best Polarized Sunglasses they are to be in and around the water with 7 layers of protection. They are not cheap (and I'm not rich) but a good pair of sunglasses are worth the money. When you pay $80 + for them they don't fall apart, scratches are not visible and you care enough to look (for as long as it takes) to find them.

I always wear polarized sun glasses fishing. I broke down and bought a pair of Oakley polarized sun glasses and wear them all the time. Knowing what I paid for them I take extreme care of them. They have definately lasted me longer than any other pair of sun glasses I've ever owned.

As for just getting the lenses, if they make polarized sunglasses for those frames, yes just getting new lenses would work. Lizards
