				 | Fish Finder/Depth Gauge in-line fuse

Here's the deal I went fishing yesterday, and all of the sudden my depthfinder wouldn't come on I checked the plug in on the bottom and found nothing. Today before I put my boat in the water I found my in-line fuse had come apart, and the fuse was missing Anyways the ends were very corroded, so I just cut the ends off, and twisted the wires together. Works great now Is the in-line fuse a neccessity, and if so what in the amp is needed for the Depthfinder if anyone knows. I would prefer to just use a water proof connector and remove the fuse altogether if this is OK Lizards
