I apologize if this is a repost, I went thru a lot of the old post & didnt see one previously.
I have replaced the carpet in my fiberglass boat. I am trying to clean the excess glue up without scratching the fibergalss or leaving those little gray metal marks. My neighbor told me to try oven cleaner? I am not sure if the oven cleaner would hurt/compromise the fiberglass. Does anyone have any suggestions???? Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated? Thanks ![]() |

My advice would be to call a Boat Dealer and ask them. That's a good question and I have tried to get some excess glue off my new ranger when I bought it, and the salesmen told me acetone was ok to use on the gelcoat, but it didn't even budge the glue. I took some fine wet/dry 300 grit sand paper to it (but don't rub real hard) and then buffed out the roughed up gelcoat, it came out pretty good too.

You were supposed to have been more careful as to not get the glue where it shows.
