I already caught a nice one for this tourney, but can't enter it since I didn't have a camera, bassintom did. I didn't get any pics with a ruler. I'll catch another one bigger than the 22.5"L X 17"G which our fish calculaotr said 7.17 lbs Hopefully Tom will post that one up for everyone to see I'm gonna beat that 12 lber Lizards

I think I'll be able to possibly weigh in a fish during this time period. Weather is finally starting to heat up and become stable...might finally get some "normal" fishing going.

Yeah I use fins and I have oars. I use the fins to move small distances and use the oars for long distances.....

Ratltrap, I think that if its at all possible(meaning you aren't in a kickboat or some other confined space that prevents measuring) you have to submit pictures that show the measurement of the fish and use the weight calculator.

Ken is right RatLTrap. It is good that you are posting pictures of your catch.. but in the future, bring along a measuring tape to get the length and girth of your fish.

a cheapie tape measure or even a long piece of fishing line or string would work for the measurements, I've used line before to measure girth, and tied a knot where the measurement was, then went home an put a ruler up to it..or just carry a small tape measure with ya..the pics you have are great tho, everyone can see they are nice n big!

Yeah but wouldnt it be easy for someone to just make the string longer than the fish really is :P? doesnt kevin want a picture of the tape measure with the fish laying beside it.?

Yes the tape beside the fish is what is expected, however the girth measurement, while it should be taken, is largely based on honesty.... Anyone could cheat with pictures, but whats the sense of that? only cheating yourself when ya do that.... all in all I think everyone has been truthfull on the weights, some scales dif slightly than the [length and girth formula]...but remember one of the goals of this tourney is to offer some less experience anglers a chance to get their feet wet and know what to expect in a real tourney, plus the planning and changing of strategy/conditions that we all face while bassin'. |

Deacon, denny and I have used a piece of nylon string with marks on it for every inch up to about 24 inches, it sure comes in handy, and easy to carry in your pocket or tacklebox...I took black marker once and measured it off, and once tied knots every inch to estimate the girth. |

Here is my entry...and luckily since I've been here so long I expect to not be hassled about the pic not having a tape measure in it, after all I am worthy of this special privlige....I did take a few pics with the fish next to the tape measure but I accidentily deleted them. The fish had a lenth of 29 inches and a girth of 23, so per Kevins' calculator the weight was 16.2 pounds.... The story is that I put in at the shell creek ramp at Millers Ferry lake, southwest of selma alabama. I tossed a white spinnerbait with white blades exclusivly and had a decent day, catching several keepers in the 3 pound range...but the leviathan that is pictured hit around 2:30 on a shallow flat. Its a good thing I had the trailer hook, or I would have never landed this monster...and yes, the fight took about 8 minutes....also lucky I had the net handy. Hey Kevin, you can send all the prizes that I will undoubtedly win for this entry to Billy Bob, Tuscaloosa Alabama, 35401, PO Box 12345.

WTL- you sure that was only 16.2, maybe the angle is just weird, but it looks to be in the 18 pound class. Well, I'm getting out this weekend to a pond where my friend caught a 14 pounder last year. Maybe that monster will rise from the depths for me.
