Default Weekly Lake Fork Report From Guide Jim Reaneau

Well, this has been a wild week. Cool fronts after another. The weather has been great this week except for the one day of rain and that was wonderful. We can’t complain about rain with all the low water conditions. The long range forecast says it will be a wet winter. Great. Maybe this will get all our lakes full again. The fishing has been a little up and down with the temp swings. The lake is a little over 5 foot low and you had better be careful where you run. If the guides are hitting stumps then you know what you are up against. There are many stumps showing up in a lot of places where we run, so be very careful. The fish are scattered from the shallow to the deep water. Like I told you last week just about anything you like to throw should catch you a fish. There are fish in the backs of the creeks and on the main lake points. Top water has been good to me this week. Pop’r type baits like the Yellow Magic have been very good. I have caught fish in the middle of the day on them. The Lake Fork Tackle Baby Ring Fry or Twitch worm on a Texas or Carolina Rig has been very good. The Wave Worm Tiki Monkey has been very good on the same presentation. The Frog has been good over the grass early and on the cloudy days.
Grass has been the best areas to work. But working creek channels with a jig or a Texas rig has been very good. Big crank baits cast down the middle of the creeks and worked back has produced some nice fish. Weightless and wacky style worms have been very good around the grass.
The crappie were a little tough this week but should get better after the next front.
I still have October dates open and November dates open. Call me if you would like to book a guided trip here on Lake Fork.
