i live in texas, but my family in bakersfeild area. i beilieve Lake Castaic, one of the best fishing lakes in the world, is near. there have been some BIG bass come outta there. If you can fish this lake, i'd use a rainbow trout lure. my uncle caught a 13 pounder on one 2 years ago. You can find one of these at walmart or anywhere in california.

good luck. will you be in a boat or shore? I'd suggest fishing the top of the dam because it is bigger and has much more cover and easier to fish.

i meant to fish the top lake. see, the lake is split in two by a dam. the top has better fishing and way, way more room. i'd definatly fish the top.

oh and it will be a 10 dollar entrance fee to use the ramp i believe.
renting a boat would be good. can you afford a giude though? that would be your best bet, he'll know the lake and put you on some fish.

and im sorry, but after reading this http://www.socalbassfishing.com/lake-castaic.php they say to fish the lower lake or "lagoon" because it is better. its up to you, so i'd ask a local fisherman or employee for advice

well, i'd just suggest the usual. you can throw crankbaits around deep cover, flip jigs into trees. ask around and you'll get answers . when will you be going?
