Handmade, flatsided cranks for sale

I make custom,wooden, flatsided, basswood crankbaits and need to sell some to keep the wife off my back. These are 2.5 in long,run about 6 to 8 ft, have fiber board lips, all stainless hardware, triple grip hooks and are coated with 2 part epoxy for durability. You will be hard pressed to find a higher quality handmade. These baits have been working extremely well on N. Ga, and S.C. lakes like Hartwell, Russell and Clarks Hill and should work equally well on similar bodies of water. If interested, e-mail me at kenneth266@charter.net

I hope this doesn't give you sticker shock but, these things take a while to make and they will easily outlast cheaper plastic baits, not to mention attract more bites. Without the rattles, they're a lot more subtle and natural.

I think you've made a great product!..I've got many that are almost identical to yours but are for 2-4 ft range, except for those that sink.
The problem I get with them is crappie and bluegill hit them about as fast as I can get them to the bassey area, but I sure like that paintjobs on em!

To expensive for me. I use to make crankbaits and know how long they take to make. My luck would be first cast a pickeral bitting it off.

I don't blame you, $12.00 is a lot to fork out for something that you might lose at anytime. Any cheaper though and I'd be giving them away, no joke. It's still a fun hobby though and a hoot to see the look on the guys face in the back of the boat when I'm reeling in 3 to 1 over his fat free shad, hehe.
Anyways, cranking season is almost upon us here in Georgia, how about where you're at?

2nd...Sorry it took so long to respond. Haven't checked back here in a while. I thought there was going to be no interest in these but, wow!
Anyways, I put together a website because it was wearing me out re-typing the colors over and over in e-mails. The website is http://olwoody.com. So far, I just have the medium divers ready that I mentioned here but, the deep divers and the shallow are in the works. It's a work in progress so don't bash me too bad, hehe.
As for the price, I told everyone $12.00 ea but on the website they are $12.95 due to the cost of running a merchant acount website. BUT, since I have told everyone $12.00, I will ship for free through June to offset and to keep people from thinking I'm wishy washy. The money saved on shipping will definitely be more than $1.00 ! You will actually be getting each lure cheaper than $12.00. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

online, or at home depot or lowes. i get it from my junior engineering class, but it didnt work with the X-acto knives. and anybody know why epoxy can get all bubbly? i coated the lure, and the top got all foamy with te epoxy

We use basswood because it is a lot togher but, still maintains the same action as balsa. Balsa is very soft, absorbs water more easily, and takes much more weight to balance properly. It also has to be sealed twice. Some of the crankbait manufacturers that use balsa actually have disclaimers that state their lures will break in half if too much pressure is exerted on them when hung up. Now, this is not to say that balsa won't work because it does catch the heck out of fish but, one has to realize up front that they are delicate.
On the epoxy problem, it sounds like your lure may not have been dried good enough before coating or you mixed the epoxy into a froth and then applied to your lure. Always make sure your lure is completely dry, at least 24 hrs, measure equal amounts of epoxy, only use plastic or something non porous to mix it. The epoxy will have small bubbles after mixing. These will disappear simply by exhaling over the mixture. Blow lightly over the mixed epoxy and you will see the bubbles float to the top and burst. One other tip, mix your epoxy on a flat surface and not in a cup. It will last longer and be easier to remove bubbles prior to coating.
