Well, the playoffs couldn't have turned out any better for me - I like both the Seahawks and the Steelers. Deshea Townsend vs Shaun Alexander? Well, I guess I will pull for Seattle because its good for Shaun to get the credit whereas Deshea is only a cornerback, but its good to see Bama alums doing well.

Yea it was. That video was taken by someone in the student section, right near the area I was with my 61 year old Dad (I smuggled him in lol). He couldn't believe it. Right when the game started I yelled so loud I almost fainted, started shaking and turned red...and the volume shook the entire place like a couple jet aircraft. I lost my voice 5 minutes into the game, really. Whats great now is that was before Bryant-Denny was expanded, it did have about 83k fans, but they closed the entire endzone in and its up to 93K. So all that sound this year is gonna be trapped in there....sad the only good game at home this year will be against Auburn, but they will be in for it. That ticket will be about $200-250 on the street. I'll pay it too.

West Virginia is getting a lot of respect and they deserve it. Its a shame they are stuck up in the Big East where they play a weak schedule. As for UGa last year, I've never seen a more emabarrasing, ill-prepared team going into a bowl. They really didn't take WVU seriously, and it got them beat.

Two Words "Darren McFadden". He may not even be the best RB on campus. Things are looking up in Fayettenam...now if we could just lose a nutt or two...

McFadden is a fine football player, so is Peyton Hillis. But apparently the Hogs are gonna run a wide open pass offense? They don't have the personel to really do that, but hey I wont complain.

Yea I had forgotten about Marcus Monk, he is a huge (literally) talent as well.
The problem for you guys is at the QB position. Mustain is a true freshman, and it will be hard for him to come into the SEC and play well right away. Not only physically, but mentally will he know what he is seeing on the field when the defenses line up in some odd formations? And then after that you have Dick. Actually Nutt running the ball is probably what yall should do - not on 3rd and 18, but Arkansas has developed a niche as a tough, ground oriented team. You can't change to pass-happy overnight. Ask Nebraska, they have far more resources than Arkansas and they have struggled to get that offense going.

I agree with stickin to the running game...everyone around here complains that when we do pass we throw a slant, a five yard out or a 8 yard cross. We also hit the backs in the flats but usually only on 3 and forever. I am all for a solid running game but I would also like to see them stretch the field. I believe Gus will do this and I hope that houston stays out of the way...How do the AL teams look this year?

The one good thing that yall have going for you in the passing game is throwing up lobs to Monk. That guy is almost as scary as Matt Jones athlete-wise.
Auburn looks to be pretty strong at the skill positions, although they lose some on the lines. While it could be my personal leanings, I tend to think they might disappoint a few people. I just am not sold on Tuberville as a consistent winner, nor do I think Kenny Irons is anything special (he is a good back, but he had the benifit of a terrific line last year that is now gone). Alabama will get better as the season progresses for the first time in years, but early on they may look lost. We lost a strong senior class including our QB, 2 LBs, 2 3 years starters as safety, 1 3 year starter at corner and 1 good defensive end. I would say we will be solid at some point, but not spetacular at anything except maybe running the ball. Of course last year the problem down the stretch was the offensive line, and that should be improved as much of that was due to the youth of that unit.

Well Monk should have a break out year. Williams could be as good as advertised or just the next also ran in a long line of HS all stars. But just judging by his game film he may actually be the real deal. He was actually susposed to go down to UF until Mustain signed...So is croyle gone? He absolutely killed us back in the day. Irons tore us up but I blame that mainly on our lack of LBs a problem we will still face this year. But this is how it is as a hog fan. Optimism until october then 0fer october then moaning about how next year is our year...it'll be ok as long as we beat LSU lol...

Yep, Brodie got on the bus to Kansas City, he's gonna be a Chief. Replacing him will be John Parker Wilson, from Hoover High, he doesn't have Croyles arm but he's a good bit more mobile and he has a nice feel for the game. It will still take time for him to learn, as it takes for all young QBs.
I think the Arkansas fans should buck up. True, the past few years havent been so great but yall were a hair from going undefeated that year Clint Stoerner took the money and fell vs UT. But its great to see some LSU and Arkansas fans on the board, yall stick around. I like both programs, nothing but respect for SEC West football. Just looking at the bottom, airmcnair8888 is viewing this thread! Steve, is that really you, lol!

I would just like to take this opportunity to congratulate Auburn University on their stellar APR ranking. For those of you who dont know, the NCAA requires each of its member institutions to submit an academic progress rating for their athletic teams. Auburn did, and as it turned out it was the 2nd highest ranking in the country next to Harvard and just in front of schools like Princeton, William and Mary and Colgate. In fact, Auburn University was the only BCS school to place anywhere near the top. Truly I am proud of little brother in the state of Alabama, they've done well.
