I guess there is a better than decent chance that this was not an unintentional April Fool's joke. I guess we will see if someone confesses on the 2nd.

Hahahaha I was driving around the other week and saw a bait shop selling waterdogs and it made me think of this. Glad bassfishin.com is still the go to spot for all your waterdog needs.

Kenneth that appears to be a spotted salamander, not a water dog.
Years ago while fishing the Chattooga river I saw a very vibrant orange spotted newt, that area is quite how should I say full of them.Remember it well even though 20 years ago,as caught the largest brown of my fly fishing attempts on a number 10 stimulator,5 weight rod only 19 in but was a whopper for me. Most of the waterdogs, hellbenders ive seen came from tributaries of the ohio river muddy green brown with a yellow belly and of course red gills, basically not real colorfull, and I always tookem off with pliers as didnt like the looks of those teeth. Generally caught at the mouths of creeks just about first of march on live bait 8-12 in long |

What really qualifies as a waterdog??? A large brown amphibian or a canine companion who just happens to be in the water??? Or maybe, a person that has been referred to as being a "sly ole dog" who is going for a swim.
These questions I ask myself every night before going to bed, and weigh heavily on my thoughts throughout the day... I mean there must be some scientific analysis somewhere that proves or disproves one or more of the above. Thought this was a fitting post for having been awol for over a year.

Just where can one get that and does it come in a brown, prefer however to have no trebles underneath.
I think any lizard or newt will work as many are aquatic in nature http://www.ebay.com/itm/BOGS-YELLOW-...#ht_2553wt_949 Last edited by lilmule; 03-05-14 at 09:49 AM. |

First one works quite well for catfish, place cutup bait in a jar sprinkle sweet annis add bloodmeal, let sit a few weeks, wont sit on bottom long at all.The blue cats here like just plain ol hotdog bits.
