Me and my freind plan on going fishing reel late Friday and wanted to know if lure choices and colors will change when it gets darker.I have heard people talk about using black spinnerbaits, black buzzbaits and black tubes and worms with rattles. For the spinnerbaits is there a certian type of blade or blade combinations I should use.

I have always loved using topwater lures at night.Black jitterbugs,Hula Bugs, and Zara Spooks.Theres nothing like seeing a bass explode on it,or just suck it in without a ripple.Yeah but I think black is the way to go.As far as spinnerbaits ,I think the Colorado blades give the most vibration, for night fishing.GOOD LUCK RIDER.

Rider,
I've been fishing at night lately, and have been doing really well with kreature baits... Green Pumpkin color... I also add a YUM fish attractant to it. Produces well for me. If you have a chance, try it. Also, if you wanted to use crankbaits, crawdad colors work well for me. I was told black and red colors work well at night. Good luck, and let us know how you do. ~YBM |

40 years of night fishing experience has shown me that the fish will hit all colors at night. Example. Last week we were casting shad raps for walleye at night. After a considerable time with out a hit my partner put on a shad color. The walleye started eating it up. Black is often a good color at night but I have caught lots of bass on red or purple at night and even watermelon red . Bass dont read.
The species is very adapted to feeding at night. They have both black and white cones in there eyes as well as color cones. They see very good in low light situations much like a cat. Fish2win

On our home lake (Alan Henry) we fish 10-12 inch carolina rigged worms at night. Our lake is FULL of trees. So, we look for a flat with more sparse cover where the wind is blowing into it. We have had a lot of success fishing around the damn at night with those worms, as long as the wind is blowing into it. We usually use black, red shad, or june bug color. Anything dark but it has to be a HUGE worm. My favorite is the BPS 12 inch "squirming worm". The zoom "old monster" is another good large worm. God Bless,

I've been night fishing all week. Black spinnerbaits with a colorado blade is what I'm getting them on. No luck with black buzzbaits, or jitterbugs.

As another tip. I was watching a fishing show I forget which one it was a while back. But they were saying that when night fishing to kinda fish away from structure that bass tend to stray from it at night, and they were using black powerworms and catching them left and right.

If you go again soon, try a crazy crawler. I've had great success with them at night

We fish mostly night tournaments here in the summer. My best bait has been a 10" bluefleck powerworm texas rigged. A brush hog on a standup jig head works well too.

My question is where do the fish feed at night. Me and a freind are going out to a family lake this weekend to set out some catfish jugs and do some bass fishing. I really need some pointers on locating the bass at night cause I have never tried it before. The lake has tons of pads and a few laydowns It has a creek running right through it that gets bout 25 foot deep. There are a few nice points that produce a lot of good fish. There is a good cave with alot of stucture a frequent little hump thangs(underwater islands bout three foot across where water goes from bout 4 foot to bout 1 foot) there is even a good pad covered 6 foot flat right out near the middle. I dont really now how the bass feed at night and want to do well thanks sorry bout the long post.
