Most times I don't-used to but got away from it for some reason. When I do it is usually a curl tail grub or split tail trailer.

i use spinnerbaits alot.i dont use trailers i change the skirts or blades or both.if using a single blade try double.go from colorado to willow-leaf or the other way around.then there is the size you can go 1/8 1/4 1/2 3/4 .as far as colorthats what every one would love to know you just have to go with what works for you.

i like the 3 inch kalin grub lemon merange, its chartreuse on one side, white on the other.
I also use the long twin straight tail for some to, esp white with single strand of red in a white skirt..killer combo ! |

90% of the time I do. And usually it's a 3-4 inch twist tail grub. Occationally I will use a split tail trailer. There is one catch though to my madness. I fish my spinnerbaits almost exclusivly with either a white or white and chatruese skirt. I almost always with use a bright yellow or chartruese trailer with my white skirts. It does seem to make a big difference in the number of hits I get on my spinnerbaits. I believe that the contrast of color between the skirt and the trailer gives the bass something to catch his eye and home in on. Much more than if the trailer was the same color as the skirt and thus blending in. Give it a try and I believe you'll notice a difference in your number of spinnerbait strikes.

That's interesting, Keithdog. I just read something in an old In-Fisherman where the dude talks about the same thing. He even suggested contrasting colors for jigs and spoons, too. Me thinks thou art on to something...

Ivan, I know the ones you are talking about. If you can't find them a red Spike-It marker and a white split tail will fit the bill.

Actually those are the ones I like to use, but you're right they're getting harder to find. Thanks everyone for your replies!

i try to always use a trailer, most of the time it is just a hook though. sometimes i use a pork trailer. split tail mostly. uncle josh. i try to get as close to the spinner in color as possible. if i can't use a pork trailer i use a grub or other soft bait. i have used a 6" worm, not the whole thing now, i bite off about 3 to 4 inches. use just the curly tail part. haven't had too much luck with that setup though.
