Couple days on river
Spent last Sunday on the Potomac fishing a money tornament. Partner was on good fish but no real kickers. We fished Baby Ones all day long and caught 40 or so between us. I caught the first two keepers and partner picked up two in four pound range. Never found a fifth keeper. Missed a check as a result.
Got out with the club yesterday for an evening outing. Found bass relating to pads. Chatterbait worked it's majic if you could avoid the gar. Caught 25 or so nice bass but only 5 keepers. Weighed 11.5 lbs and took third. Sorry no pics......yet. Last edited by 3dkicker; 05-02-10 at 07:34 PM. |

Thats sounds good! I've never caught a gar but I've seen a few. Nasty lookin things! Congrats on the good outting.

3D, third is better than last. If i could finish in the top 5, i would fish tournies. But YOU are a great fisherman and you will win pal. If ya catch another gar.......stab him in the head before ya let it go. i HATE those things.

My partner hooked one gar and had it at the boat. It hit one of my custom skirts with the custom trailer. The blue back herring was too much for them. They'd chase and hit that bait but not my shad color. Very strange. Anyways it wasn't that big and I grabbed the line to swing the fish into the boat and the line snapped. I should have netted it.......guess the monkey had a little to do with it. That chatterbait put two nice keepers in the boat for my partner and he didn't catch another keeper after that.

Thanks. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have the river so close. We're spoiled to be able to catch 4 or 5 limits (12") on an average day. That's why I fish the lake....to bring me back down to reality where I'm lucky to catch a limit.
