The 285 is a good boat, and that low psi faststrike will last a long time.
I recently got a 385v (1985) slightly larger and older placed a fresh rebuild merc on it even though ive always ran omc due to it having merc controls and me a bit old to rig. The stratos line isnt a real fast boat but yet a stable one at reasonable speed. Compare even though years apart my 385v 19 ft 1 in(1985) 1,200 lbs ![]() the 285 has been made in about three different lengths which one is yours or what length |

I haven't pulled a tape on it but I was told it was 18' 6". It's a '93 -the motor is a '94 according to the serial #. So far it has been a smooth ride.

Congrats on the boat! No doubt you'll be landing many fish out of that baby!

18.67 feet long and weighs 1260 (pounds dry) rated 175,newer ones weigh more and rated less.I find it odd in the respect older ones do have some wood in them while newer are composite and should weigh less but dont.
My older 1985 385v at 19 ft 1 in weighs ten pds less according to the specs, rated for 200. New stratos this length 1400-1500lbs,rated less. Our two boats within an inch of depth and or beam mine being a tad more. Enjoy you have a Tn boat made in Nashville- no longer. With a 6 in jp will run about as well as most short 20 ft boats as built for the Tn river system. Last edited by lilmule; 05-15-13 at 08:39 AM. |
