yo zilla the canadian bacon is loose in here again...
dude bass will sit off depth contours down to 40-50 feet more if small mouths. i personly have caught largemouth down 45 feet during winter. but that is down here in a tad warmer climate. my guess would be if there is not some major structure rock piles, creek channles, ect for bass to hold off they would be at the weed line 3-5 feet away depending on water clarity or burrowed right up in the weeds if a cold front or the water gets stained. ask zilla he is from the barrie area zooker

where in Ontario are you? I might be close enough to give you a hand catching some fish or give you some good fishing holes.
Robby.

I lived in Toronto, mostly fish kawartha lakes, I'll go to Sturgeon Lake end of August for Walleye and Bass fishing, I ever fished in Goose Bay this spring for walleye, but the water temp. is so high this year, I really need some tips about deep water fishing.
Thanks |

I'm not a deep water specialist but do pretty good with a Carolina Rigged lizard, worm, or brushhog this time of year. Using deep diving cranks with a stop and go retrieve works some too. Most of the bass I've caught deep this time of year have been on main lake points. Find a point that falls off into a creek channel and fish the top of the drop down. Another place that works good are hump off shore. If you can find one with some brush, rocks, or stumps on it you should find fish. At Kentucky lake we caught them on tubes with a 1/4 oz. jig head. The humps topped off at around 12'-14' and dropped to around 25'-28'.
For the guy with the bass on the weedline in 8'-12' of water... you may want to try a drop shot rig and put your worm above the weight enough to clear the grass. Or... try a rattle trap and let it sink to the top off the weed line and work it across the top of the grass trying to get a reaction strike. Hope some of this helps. I'm still learning to fish deep water myself. Eric |

in sturgeon lake I would go weed beds there there's real good muskie there as well as Cameron lake, if you want the bass there off the points and on the docks. if you want a real good lake for every thing Rice lake near Peterborough is tops in the area, and its only an hour awa. Has BASS,WALLEYE,crappie, cats, some muskie. but for the drive I'ts worth evey penny if you ever go to rice lake let me know I got a honey hole where this came from.
got these guys in early july. Robby.
