Fishing Good Size Waters

I fish a good sized reservoir, and i need a couple of tips...

The banks are very steep, and all lined with riprap, when i stay steep, prob. bout 65 degrees. What would you reccommend for SHORE fishing an area like this... the res. contains bass, walleye, crappies, perch, and bluegills, also good sizes and numbers of bass( 7+ lbs.) Thanks Alot!

Sounds like a resivior I fish alot. Is the water clear? If so, I wouldsay good luck, I still cant figure out clear water.

Paca Craw with a 1/16 oz bullet weight pegged. Cast it out let it hit bottom, and slowly work it back over the rocks, you will break off, but it works well for me. Also a Bomber B crankbait in craw pattern along the riprap. Crawdads are one of my favorite color and baits to use around rip rap. If the reservoir has gobies in it a drop shot with a gobie would also work.

Drop shot the water with a Mister Twister dropshot worm in the natural color.

Since much of the bank is the same, look for something different along the bank or below the water. A bank with just little different feature may hold fish. Different size rock, a transition of rock, a sharp point, or a mixture could hold bass. And even though you can't see structure that doesn't mean its not there. A lot of time a single log could be hung up under water that you can't see. And that single log may be very different than the rest of the structure around and it will usually attract fish! You best tool would be a crank bait to find the subtle changes. Once you find fish work the area with a variety of lures that are horizontal then vertical. Try to understand why the fish are at that particular location, then try to duplicate it in other areas of the res!

Also, if you can find an area where the rock is grapefruit to baseball sized, be sure to work that particular area well. The debris from a dying fish will fall between the cracks and the area will in all probability support both crayfish and minnows.

My advice would be to focus on two things.... (A) reaction lures and (B)soft plastics on light line (6#). Find the fish and start with the reaction lures first (cranks, & traps), if that will not produce any fish, then go to light line soft plastics, try drop shot or small jighead and downsize your plastics.

Oppps....Shore fishing.....excuse me.......Do be quite careful when using traps and cranks from shore of course, I don't like to lose lures like that, but, when I do use them I will run them as high as possible holding the rod up and slowing down the retrieve. You may want to try a floating rattle trap or suspending lures in that case.
