I went to a local farm pond today in hunt for bluegills, and bass! I took a medium action spinning rod w/ 6lb. mono...
1st fish: Pumpkinseed Sunfish - 6 -7 inche long 2nd fish: Largemouth Bass - 8 inches 3rd fish: Largemouth bass - 9 inches 4th fish: largemouth bass - 12 inches 5th fish: White Crappie - 6 inches 6th fish: White Crappie - 8 inches 7th fish: Channel Catfish - 23 inches 8th fish: Bluegill - 7 inches All were C&R all were caught on worm and slip bobber! Heres the kicker to the story: I was fishing and the bobber went about 1/2 way down, and didnt come back up... i set the hook and felt a lot of weight... it was on for like about 25-30 seconds and the drag a rearing all the way! So i tightened up the drag and out jumped what looked to be a 6 to 7 lb. largemouth bass... it went back down and put all of its muscle to it and SNAP there went the line! I was pissed! Thanks Ryan

If it's peeling drag, and you were using 6lb test, you should have expected that when you tightened down the drag. Keep up the fishing, you'll have another chance. Always exciting hooking into a really nice fish.

I used to fish with only 4 and 6 pound test line, but after losing who knows how many fish with that light line, I now use 8, 10, or 12, hell one of my reels even has 15pound test on it....
