Greetings all. I went out for the first time in a month (due to a school trip to Japan) and actually caught a couple keepers...nothing to brag about really. But at the end of our trip I discovered that my spinning rod decided to go for a swim without my knowledge. So anyway its time for a new spinning set up. I usually use them for plastics around docks, timber etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appericated. Also I was thinking of getting a new set up for flippin docks. My fishing buddy recommended an ambassador. Any insights on this would also be welcome. As always thanks in advance.

Gorrilla,
For your spinning setup, I have a Shimano Crucial 6'6'' MH spinning rod with a Shimano Sedona 2500FB spinning reel and I love it. I have recommended this set up to a few friends and they absolutely love it too. So, here I am, again, recommending it to you. I'm sure everyone else has different setups to tell you about, but its mainly about personal preference, Hope this helps. ~YBM |

I like the Shimano line up as well, I'm a big fan of both their spinning and baitcasting rigs. They make a better than average rod too. Go with the Crucial and the Sedona, but I myself prefer the 6 foot rod instead of the 6'6".

I have 2 Sedona 4000FBs and I have no problems with them, they are about $40-50 each. I also have a Symetre that I have not used yet. I like the Shimano reels. No problems, no reason to try any different. Love my Calcutta bait casters so I got a Cruxis yesterday too, replacing a broken Pinnacle(not enough $ for another Calcutta). They seem to be pretty good reels, but I might move up to the Sahara spinning next time to have a metal frame for longevity.
