Now...Why would that work any better than a big ole plastic worm swam across the surface? I bought the Snakebait when it first came out way back in the 80's, and boy, what a waste of money. Did I catch fish? well sure, but no enough to justify the then outrageous price of 5.00 for a pack of them, when I used a 8 inch plastic worm and caught the same and more.

JMO, but watch out for gimmicks.

Cranky- another thing is that up there in the great white north, the reptilian population is lower. I personally would not buy one, but again, just my opinion.

I'm sure it has its place in a bass fisherman's arsenol. As pointed out, snakes are probably better for you guys in the south, but who knows. I personally believe you should try all lures and make an educated decision as to whether they work or not.

Think about the newly hyped up chatterbait. I'm sure there is a message board somewhere where people are calling it a waste of money and just a gimmick. The guys here seem to buy into the chatterbait. I haven't used one yet and won't until I can get one for much less than the current going rate.

I would definitely try that snake if I could get ONE at reasonable price. I don't want to spend $40 just to try it.

i saw the video as well. 10" worms work the same exact way and are cheaper and more versatile. I may try one if i was further south but not up here in NY

I've seen plenty of snakes swimming in the water but have never seen a fish go after one. Anyone seen this? What about Doug Hannon's snakes?

That's so true! I've seen lots of water snakes swimming around locate water, and have never seen a bass or even a pike hit them.

The "snake" bait did catch fish, but I believe it is the action, not the snake leads the strike. I mean in a certain situation, you can catch bass with a hotdog.

Default the snake

i bought a package of snakes, not doug hannons, and i caught a bass with it. it was a relatively big one too. i live in western maryland to put that into perspective. i never tried it after that, but it had nearly the same action as doug's and it was way cheaper. i too think that a long plastic worm will do the same thing, fish are stupid, they are predators, and eat when hungry. i dont think i will get sucked in on doug's snake idea. it is good to read the posts about the snake and the many opinions expressed.
and this is just my thoughts.
