Default Important Photo Regarding "keeper" Thread

This is an example of the fish keeping, pond ruining, ecosystem wrecking, litter depositing asses that I was refering to in the other thread. NOT any of the sportsmen that are on this site. Please take note of his awesome gear. That is a 22ft long bamboo pole. If you note the two areas towards the end of the pole where there is scotch tape wrapped around about a hundred times? That is where this gentleman has taped the tip of a broken spinning rod upside down. His line is simply tied to the last guide on the tip. This guy took 14 bass out of my favorite pond. If it is an open season yes, however the season is closed this year. These guys don't care. I could be wrong, maybe he'll be posting later whether or not he should use a fuji or aluminum oxide guide to tie his line to. They were all small fish he took, but those are 14 fish real anglers will be without over the next decade.

if he was keeping them out of season you should have contacted a Wildlife Officer. They have open, closed, and limits in place for a reason. now as far as there being 14 fish that real anglers won't have over the next decade, gotta keep in mind how many of those fish would be picked off by birds, bigger fish, injured by other anglers, etc.

Yeah, I uderstand. I did not mean the 14 fish would be there in a decade literally. Fishery management is healthy. However these "type" of guys piss me off. This is the first time I have seen this particular guy at the pond. What happens when he goes every day for the next eight or nine days. He did not appear to be malnourished to me. If he was I would have either called an ambulance to get him immediate attention, or given him 10 bucks for food. Look again at his rod for christs sake!

It is limited to 5 total per day with any combination of LM, SM, Pike, Catfish, or Walleye here in Michigan.

Please note the discarded Mcdonalds french fry boxes that they both have, and the plastic water bottle. All of that debris and more will be left when they fold up their comfortable chairs and leave.

Those bottom two look more like they're fishing for blue gill or catfish than for bass. I don't think I'd worry about either of them catching anything to take home. The biggest problem with them is if they actually leave their trash behind. That and the fact that you now have to fish around them.

. One would hope that would be the case. However bass will hit a live nightcrawler contracting on the end of a suspended line. The plastic bag behind the one guy contained two bluegills and one 8 inch bass. There are no catfish in this pond. My issue is with the behavior of the three of these men. They can not be good for angling as a whole. It is just a matter of time before trash piles on trash, neighbors take notice, complaints are lodged etc. The outcome can only be negative for the sporting bass angler no matter how negligable.

Too bad that the situation looks even worse in United States. I see these kinda guys in Canada all the time.

I was shocked that you still called them "anglers"! Man, they are not! They are just fishmen! That's the freakin' way they catch fish, they don't care what kind fish, bass, sunfish or catfish. They were looking for food. No body calls them anglers even in China.

Every single time, I meet these kind guys, I always explain what the legal way to keep fish is regarding to the season opening as well as numbers and legal size of fish to them in CHINESE. They actually know everything! They just don't care! Why? becuase nobody ever actually TO BE CATCH BY GOVERNMENT!

Thanks for the fxxxin' communist education system in china to produce bunches of these kind selfish and cheap guys.

And guess what, Asking the guy with the long pole, there is a great chance that his son or son-in-low is a Ph.D, and mades more than 60K/yr in your country.

Just feel bad to see this. For me, if canadian gov. give me a job or the power, I'm very glad to take it, and stop these kind guys by law!

Whole bunch of I woulda's you shoulda's. I did indeed confront these men. Thats how I knew what they had in their bags as far as numbers. Calling DNR for this would be a joke. I do what I can on my own. I still have police credentials and an unmarked police car. I can usually run them off. However this stuff is absolutely rampant where I live. That is why I made the generalization about keepers that I did earlier. This is the populus that I am working with. The area where the pond is is very well to-do. These guys are not poor. Just behaving according to their culture.

My only problem is that they're fishing out of season. If it were in season, I'd say live and let live. What makes us "real" anglers and them not? Just cuz you fish with a three hundred dollar combo doesn't make you better than them. They're just out enjoying themselves on the water in their own fashion. Again, It's not right to fish out of season, but even if the season was open you'd be moaning about these people fishing in "your " pond. If you don't like it, leave. My neigbor in my old neighborhood was an albanian pro fisherman, and the way he fished was with a twenty foot pole on pipe rollers. When he was in Albania, he earned enough money by fishing tournaments with his pole to come to America and buy a house. You probably indirectly kill more fish fertilizing your grass than this guy ever will. Whatever. I'll shut up now.

I hate to see it, there are plenty of people that will keep every bass they get, I saw 2 7lb bass filleted on the shoreline in a pond right by me. Its terrible to see people ruin bodies of water, but in many cases there isn't much you can do to stop it.

Two 7 pounders? Thats too bad. I don't like seeing big bass killed, but a couple small ones, some bream, and catfish don't bother me. I don't often keep freswater fish, mainly because of what they eat.

Stop whining. People sure are different every where you go. Maybe they know that you cannot stop them from doing what they are doing ? Maybe, once you threw one of them in the pond and stomped his @ss dry once he made it back on shore, they would know that you can break them of that bad habit they developed ?I suggest you put everything you got on him the first time round, that way they anit going to want to go through it again any time soon. My dad grew up fishing for food. He had a little propane tank, with a little cooker and oil. He literally would catch a fish, fillet it, put some flour and salt and pepper on it. When it was golden, and floated to the top he would eat it right there on the spot. Nowadays that's not neccessary for most folks, uless you live somewhere really remote like Alaska. However I have eaten, and without a doubt will eat BASS again. I 99% of the time will catch and release. However if we are looking for a dinner, then yes I will keep them, and of course allow dad to clean them rotfl. If it's legal then I have no problem with it. If they are not legal, then read bassintom's post. But if you just want to clean up the place. Then if you just cleaned it up, then it would be a lot harder for someone to come around and throw trash out. But if it's already trashed, everyone wll continue to just trash it out. Yes it's work, but if it's your area, and YOU want ot keep it clear of lawbreakers and trash. Then YOU need to do something about it. Bitc***g is cheap. Not trying to come down on you, but if I saw someone with 14 bass I would have called the DNR. If I wanted the place clean, then I'd grab some trash bags and pick it up. Put some trash barrels out, or put up a sign. Yes some will ignore all the rules, but some won't. This is just MY OPINION. If we are gonna change things, then we have to start it with ourselves.
