I have a house that sits pretty far off the road. I also have 6 acres I mow with a scag zero turn mower with the lawn striper kit , so I have those cool stripes in my lawn. I take good care of my grass with fertalizer and once a year core aeration. Some nutsack last night decided to turn into my driveway , then into my lawn and procede to do a doughnut. I wish I could have caught them. My question is , what do I do now ? Let this one slide and see if it happens again ? Then what ? I cant stay up all night and go to work in the mornings...

I would place a makeshift spike strip in my yard, but that is just me.

go to the local handy man store (home depot, lowes ace). or go to your local steel fab shop. get some of the iron rebar rods about 2 foot long. take a grinder and file em to a point. drive into ground along the side of your driveway to where they stick up about 2-3 inches high. then wait for the "pop, siiiissssssss". go out and hold shotgun on em while your wife calls the local police. they ain't going nowhere with 4 flat tires right? probably teenage boys trying to be cool. a leason that would be well EARNEDafter they RESOW your lawn and mow it for the next summer FREE of charge WHILE you are out fishing.
just a suggestion for you buddy.

I was gonna suggest a catapult that launches tigers...But Bama's and Cassi's ideas are much better, and less expensive. Seriously though,I hope they're smart enough not to do it again.

Clint, while I am with Bama in spirit, I would seriously advise against putting metal spikes in your yard.
A neighbor's child running through your yard could trip and fall on one, and then you would be homeless, and probably heartbroken. I don't know how large your yard is, but I might think about some solar powered video surveillance cameras. It sucks, but this is the kind of world we live in.

I agree with the idea of the camera. You can get a trail camera that is designed for deer hunters. They take good pictures and some will record video. You use an sd card and can down load on a computer without an issue. Take pictures of what happened before so that the police can be shown that when you catch them on camera that they have a history of doing that. The upside of this camera is no wires, great pictures, video if you want it, infrared flash so they don't know they are being videoed. One more upside, after you catch the idiot, you can sell the camera to a buddy that hunts. The downside is that you have to have a tree or fence post nearby to hang the camera.

I got a deer camera I can sell you cheap. That sucks though. One of my high school football coaches had a kid come in his yard in his Z28. He stopped while he was doing donuts and got stuck though. The kid saw the lights come on and gunned it thinking the car would magically become unstuck. Long story short, the kid's car overheated and it caught fire and burned to the frame in coach's front yard. The coach made a feeble attempt to attach garden hoses together knowing they were not long enough before he called the fire department.

serioulsy the DEER CAMERA will sork in court. postion it so you can get the tag number. once coaught, let the LAW TAKE IT'S COURSE. IF THE PARENTS CAN'T HANDLE EM THE LAW CAN AND WILL. i for one would tell the parents that if they can't control their children then THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE AND WILL PAY THE PRICE. that is the law ya know. at least here it is. parents pay for their childrens upbringing. the blame is on the parents.

After I have started placing that note inside my camera I have found it placed at the base of the tree I hung it on once, although they did manage to turn the camera off without me getting a picture of them I still got the camera back and I got satisfaction out of knowing that they probably walked around for a while looking for the rest of my cameras lol.

Check your state's booby trap laws. Don't do anything to get yourself in trouble.

DITTO...think about it, a judge would say "you killed somebody to protect a patch of grass?" - You don't want that question asked.

All true and good points. But what has the world come to , when you cant protect your own personal property. I think if a vadal goes down , they shouldnt have been there in the first place. Unfortunately the world doesnt work this way anymore.

That's just it...an action or reaction that hurts someone is retaliation, not protecting property. Put a log or some big rocks out there if you want to protect the property.

You could make a foot high razor wire fence along the perimeter of your driveway if they run over it, it wouldn't be retaliation because they ran over the wire after you put it up.
