Default Million Dollar Question

You are selected to be in Million Dollar Tournament, but there is a catch. You get one set up only. Whats your set up?

The Rules

- No one knows the lake, it could be gin clear, it could be murky, it could have mats, rocks, laydowns, etc etc, but basically you don't know anything or what the weather will be.

- Lures cannot be changed, Lures can only be changed during a break off to the orginal lure. If it's a carolina rig you cannot change it into a texas rig or use the hook to wacky rig, etc. Soft plastics can be replaced but you cannot change Color, Size or creature, it must return to the orginal choosen plastic.

So Whats your Million Dollar set up?

1. Rod, Casting/Spinning and action

2. Reel

3. Line, Flouro, Mono or Braid

4. Lure

5. Why

1. 7' Med/Heavy

2. Any Good reel 6.4 Ratio

3. 20 lb Flouro

4. 1/2 oz Blue/Black Jig with a Powerbait 4" Chigger Craw Cinnamon Purple Flake

5. I have alot of confidence in my ability to fish a Jig, this color combo is killer anywhere, 20lb flouro allows me to fish clear water, and gives me enough confidence to flip heavy cover if needed.

Huh, seems like a fun post...

1. 7' MH Fast Action Quantum Superlite PT
2. BPS Pro Qualifier Tournament
3. 15 lb. P-Line Floroclear
4. 1/4 oz. Spot Remover Jighead w/ Big Bite Baits Yo Mamma in Green Pumpkin/Watermelon
5. This is my confidence setup no matter where I fish, largemouth or smallmouth. I usually start with this setup if we are pitching around docks, wood, or rocks... most of which can be found on almost any body of water.

Cool post... I'll bite..

1. 7' MH
2. Shimano Curado 201E7
3. 15 lb. Seaguar Tatsu Fluorocarbon
4. 6" Yamamoto Senko in Green Pumpkin
5. A soft stickbait is so versatile, it's hard to beat in this kind of situation. I just hope the fish aren't deep... I'd have to wait quite a while for a weightless senko to sink down! But the good thing about them is they can be skipped, power fished, good year-round, can be fished in hard and soft cover, and bass don't spit them out. They aren't my absolute favorite lure to use, but in a situation like this I'd have to go with it.

Awesome post! Get's ya thinking.

1) 7' DTC 843 MH-F Rod
2) Shimano Curado E5
3) #12 P-Line CXX
4) 5" Bass Assassin Baby Bass Soft Jerkbait
5) Everyone has a go to bait, this is mine when nothing else will put a fish in the boat and my most confident bait. I try to stay clear of using it all the time because I don't want to be accused of seining the lake.

7ft MH fast Loomis NRX
6.4:1 Lew's Tournament Pro
12lb Test P-line Fluoroclear
Yamamoto Senko Watermelon with Chartreuse tail

Extremely sensitive, versatile rod with the best casting lightest reel that I have used in a multipurpose gear ratio. Line offers great abrasion resistance with good strength and manageability. Yamamoto Senko, speaks for its self, you will go through a few of them, but they always catch fish.

Well Kevin beat me to the bait, but my equipment selection is superior.

rod: Kistler LTX 6'9" MH casting
reel: Pflueger Patriarch XT 6.3:1
Line: Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft co-polymer 15#
Lure: 5" Senko, green pumpkin
Hook: 4/0 Owner EWG.

Like Kevin says, very versitile bait and it catches fish anywhere. I really like the 6'9" rod, it feels better in my hand than a comparable 7'0" rod. It's accurate, casts very well and will pull a bass out of just about any cover with no problem. The rod paired with the XT is light yet powerfull and I can cast it all day, multiple days without fatigue. I'd choose the bigger hook and fish it rigged straight rather than wacky. Million Dollar Tx, I want some steel in the jaw.

5: Why....I guess I just feel most comfortable with this settup.

Capt Kens designer bass frog, dark bullfrog with skitter legs , its a slow floater ,a faster action like a horny toad and a diver, just by making a leg change which is part of the lure,so not a switch.Kistler heavy action,45 pd power pro,6/3/1 reel.
Catch not available yet to order only testers(frogmen) have them.
Ps ive caught fish topwater in 49f water on or with frogs.

I'd probably be a little different on the equipment....
1. Rod...6'8" Med Xfast spinning
2. Shimano Sahara reel
3. 15 lb Power Pro with 8 lb flouro leader
4. Lure...4" green pumpkin senko

This set up gives me enough strength to fish all but the worst cover while giving the versatility of skipping under docks etc. I also would have the invisibility of the fluro while still having the strength and sensitivity of the braid. Senkos are my go-to bait and the four inch has produced fish a lot of times when the 5" failed.

1. Rod would be a 7'2: Crucial Spinning Rod
2. Shimano Sahara 1000
3. 8lbs Seaguar Flouro
4. 6" Margarita Mutilator RoboWorm

My why is similar to everyone else. It is my goto setup when I need to put a fish in the boat. Additionally, I can adjust the leader to put the bait into the zone.

Rod would be 7'0" MH/F Graphite Shimano Crucial. Reel would be Garcia Revo STX 6.4:1 ratio loaded with 15 pound P Line Flouroclear. This outfit I feel gives me the best of all options for the types of fishing I enjoy most. My lure of choice would be a white 3/8 oz. Strike King KVD spinnerbait, with gold willow/colorado blades. I can catch fish year round with this bait. It's my go to bait when all else fails.

1. 7'MH Fast Rod, probably a BPS Carbonlite
2. Johnny Morris Signature in 6.4:1
3. Seaguar 20lb Abrazx (KVD line conditioner)
4. 1/2 oz Tungsten weight, 7" Yum Ribbontail in Green Pumpkin, 5/0 Straight Shank?Round Bend hook. All T-Rigged up.

5. Sensitive/Light/Strong Rod. Good Gear Ratio smooth casting reel that doesnt eat up my million dollar purse. Line that is relatively invisible fore Gin clear water, but still capable of being punched through thinner mats. 1/2oz weight because it gives me a balance of being able to punch a thin mat or fish deeper water without having it sink like a brick on the fall. Round bend hook for hook setting power in all situations including pitching cover. Yum Ribbbontail because of teh versatility. Can be swimmed slowly if they are agressive, pitched, flipped, dragged slow, hopped... anything. Green Pumpkin for its water color versatility. When in clear water has a natural greenish color, but in stained water still has enough darkness to it to have a killer profile. Only thing is i would have some tube rattle inserts ready to go in my pocket.

Well Anthony in just a couple months you'll get to do a hands on comparison and see the error of your ways. But, I will admit, publicly - your selection would be my SECOND choice. Sorry, NFE isn't around or posted anything significant yet, so I HAD to pick on you.

Oh, this is easy.

7' MH Falcon Cara
Curado 200 E7
12 lb. Pline CXX
3/8 oz. Jig - Watermelon, Zoom Super Chunk Trailer in Green Pumpkin

I've caught Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spots on this jig in water ranging from 1' to 15'. Doesn't matter if there is rock, grass or wood, or if it's Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter...it will work.

My 7 ft carrot stick, supreme XT reel, p-line flouroclear 8lb test.1/16 oz tx weight, 3/0 owner hook, 6" wat/blk flk senko. Not my fav big fish set up, but guaranteed to catch fish and extremely versitile. That 8 lb test is about as strong as 12 also
