We didn't hit the water till about 1:00 this afternoon, and that last big storm sure dumped plenty of rain cause the lake was as high as I've ever seen it and the water was flowing in pretty good from the main feeder creek. Due to my fishin partner having some luck last weekend fishing with his son, we decided to start the day fishing some shallow areas of lilly pads. Water temps were in the low to mid 60's and due to all the incoming water visibility was about 6".
The area we hit is usually a really shallow area and difficult to get around in, but all the extra water ment we had areas accessable that we normally can't reach. Even in that lightweight alumnium Tracker. My first fish of the day was this nice little chunk that slammed my buzzbait and set my drag to singin....I thought I had me a monster till she broke water and I could it was a good fish, just not a 8# like it felt...but by the time I got it out of the pads I was just happy to of landed it without loosing it.....lol We both caught several bass each, plus a few Pickerel, and everything just hammered our lures(buzz and spinnerbaits)today which made for alot of fun...lol....Oh yeah, I also had a big ol sandbass slam my buzzbait today too.....Never had that happen before....Not to mention I had no idea this little lake had any sandies in it....lol....Its only about 300 acres and is stream fed not river fed, so that catch surprised me....That and the fact he hit a buzzbait like he was a largemouth...lol ![]()
