Default A little advice. Don't do this!

First a prelude. A few years back, I was chased by a pack of dogs while walking a trail in a state park taking photos. Luckily they were far enough down the trail that I was able to reach my van and get inside before they started jumping on the van baring their teeth. So I went to our local buy anything store and got me a large can of tear gas, the strongest they had. I kept it with me any time I was on the trails after that. In the meantime, I kept it in my bedroom chest of which their are two large upper doors with two large shelves I keep all my sweaters, sweat shirts, and other clothes. I kept it there in case God forbid, something should occure here at home and I would need it fast. Well, I never thought about THIS happening. The canister leaked out completely overnight somehow last night. Now just walking past my chest will burn your eyes. Needless to say, it's being aired out and the clothes washed more than once. I hope we save the clothes! Anyways, wanted to pass this sad tale along to you incase you happen to have a tear gas canister somewhere in your home. Put it some place where a leak will not cause much of a problem.

Keith, that is why you should carry. As long as you have more rounds than there are dogs, no problem.

X2, in my experience, a gun shot will send dogs the other direction quickly. I sure wouldn't feel good if I was reaching for pepper spray for home protection either.

Sorry about your clothes though, that sounds terrible.

I used to carry but need to renew my permit. At the time it was illegal to carry in any of the Indiana state parks, but now it is legal.

That's one reason I carry a Colt .45 1911. Don't have that problem with dogs here but up in our hunting woods in Alabama we do.

Oh man Keith...when I started reading your post my mind raced ahead to the "things" I keep in our bedroom nightstand and had already assumed you grabbed the mace instead of some marital aid.........after clearing that image from my head......I guess stinky clothes ain't so bad

I think my imagined scenario would give a whole new meaning to the term seven year itch! I can see my wife jumping up and calling her momma..."come get me out of this hell hole right now!!!"

Ouch! I went through tear gas training twice in the navy, and it's no fun whatsoever!

The first time i was exposed to pepper spray was in high school, when I worked at a full service gas station/garage.
Pulled a Bronco out of the garage to park it. On the keyring was a small cylinder in a leather sheath. Somehow or other, i got some of it on my hands, and managed to transfer it to my eyes.

Ouch!!!

That's an advantage of a pistol over a revolver, and spare clips usually load faster than a revolver with speed loader. As Joe said, USUALLY a gunshot will disperse dogs when directed AT them, but I would rater rely on having suffcient rounds should they not retreat.

Tear gas sucks *** worse than being tased. A taser stops. Pepper spray is the gift that keeps on giving, at least until you take a couple of showers.

I've been sprayed 4 times for work. Throw those cloths away, if it's the good stuff you'll never get the stuff out of them.

Always carry.

And it's nice to see that there are several members on here that are "like minded"
