Default compound bow

I was looking for a decent compound bow w/i the $250 range. I don't really know whether to look at Hoyt, Matthew's, PSE, or whatever. If I could get a package w/i that price range, that would be best. If some of you have any input that would help. Thanks.

First bow, looking for about 50lb draw, 27"-29". I was shooting a compound bow for about the first time ever at this one range and I had a number of people who shot tournaments all over the southeast watching me and they said I could probably go and win some at my age level w/ almost no practice just because of natural skill. So yeah, that was my inspiration to want to buy a bow, plus I've always wanted one, but had never gotten around to it.

Go to BPS, they should have bows on sale. If not go to a pawn shop and find one that fits your needs. This way if it ends up being something you are not gonna pursue then ypou are only out 40-50 dollars. My buddy bow hunts exclusively and the PSE has been really good to him. He owns a Matthews also and likes the PSE, I think his bows run in the 4-5 hundred range though.

Hulapopr,
Try this website: huntersfriend.com. I realize you are not wanting it for hunting, but they are really excellent at fitting a bow for you over the internet. For your price range, look at Reflex bows which are a sub-division of Hoyt. I have one I use for deer hunting and it shoots straight and fast. Hope this helps.

Good suggestion. Make sure they will let you bring it back in a day or so, if it's a bad bow, or malfuntions. You don't need to be King Kong on draw weight or FPS like zooker . Anything average will kill any deer in the woods. You just gotta hit what you're aiming at. Also welcome back, hope you've been fishing some Any sporting good store that sells bow probably have last years models on sale now. Also check out ebay. Amazing how many new bows, sporting goods companies sell on there. If it's a company, usually you will get a great bow, for a little money.

I shoot a pse, It works real nice for me. Btw hula, welcome back, and if you want a bass on a swimbait, pick up some real small storm's and fish 'em by drains, canal entrances, anywhere the water is rolling. This method has caught me a nine pound bass, and numerous fives and sixes.

i shoot several pse ,hoyt are good bows i prefur onieda eagle-areo force- which the don't make any more. mathews are VERY high $5-900 each.. for target shooting you may want an over draw rest system. a release, and some good quaility sights-inculdin peep-. get what you feel is best for your personal taste. now me i use a vapor tail overdraw shooting 29" shafts graphite arrows -i have to order vanes- some like feathers i don't. my shooting bow was set at 63 pounds draw weight. my hunting bow was -still is- set at 85 pounds. i like cross hair sights and a 3-d peep sight. yeah i know 85 pounds draw weight but i have shot deer at 50 yards with out much problem..and lastly practice ,practice pratice..
