Even though it was cold today I decided to hit Upper Saranac for a couple hours this afternoon. I got on the water just after 3 and fished until almost 6, the best few hours I've had all year. I went to a very wind blown main lake point that I have never fished before. I started working the jerkbait and the bass were all over it. Largemouth were up closer to shore and smallies were out a little bit. Once that bite slowed down I went to the drop shot since I was marking a lot of big fish down 20-25' near the bottom. Like a video game, you see the fish, drop the bait on him, THUNK! It didn't always go that smoothly, but several times it did.
![]() I finally decided to head in before it started getting dark and wanted to try to hit a point near the launch. I pulled up and came in with the trolling motor only to see somebody had beat me to the spot! I was the only boat on the 6,000 acre lake, but I did have competition from this bald eagle. ![]() Some pics: The eagle is up near the wood ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Action shots: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
