A good day on the water and the value of being prepared
Flyrod and I hit our electrics only lake today and it was a good time on the water. Here's what the lake looked like:
We got on the water about 4:45 thinking the topwater bite would be on but we didn't have one hit and didn't boat the first fish unti about 6. Flyrod got the first on a black/blue swirl Tiki Stick: And I connected about 6:15-mine was biggest : All told we had 13, and all came on plastics-they didn't want anything else. Now, as to being prepared-We were fishing a hump in the center of the lake and had anchored due to the wind. We decided to move, and after I pulled the anchor up hit the trollong motor. When I did, the bolts on the left side of the mount all pulled loose leaving the TM flopping around pretty much unusable. Since this is an electrics only lake we couldn't use the outboard. Well, when I upgraded to this TM I got some extra mounting bolts never thinking I would need them let alone on the water. Anyway, I pulled out the sheared bolts, replaced them with the spares I had in the toolkit on board and saved the fishing trip. My point is that if you plan for Murphy it just might save a fishing trip.
