Default How slow is too slow?

I was talking to a guy about two 5.0:1 reels I have. One is the Curado D and the other is the Citica D. Other than for crankbait fishing he suggested I use one on a spinnerbait rod. Reasoning that is would be too slow to flip with, too slow to take up the slack on a c-rig, and not fast enough for medium cranks. What do you think? Have you ever tried a 5.0:1 for s/b and what was the outcome?
