Default Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine

Mattern Guide Service

Hello Everybody,

Psalm 31:Verses 1-3 In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righeousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defense to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress: therefore for thy names sake lead me, and guide me.

Well spring is springing even though we know a few more cold fronts may come we hope no more 20 degree mornings.

Lake Fairfield;

Water temps are in the mid 60's to low 70's and Quality rather than quantity is the norm for today. With 3 Bass over 5 Lbs. comming to the boat. It was a tough bite with the wacky rigged Nichols salty mother sinker alone producing for us near cover by reeds. The biggest around 6 lbs. Color was green pumpkin pepper. A great bait. David Nichols makes a 5 inch senko type bait. All were females and all were released and all had eggs to the full. Redfish were suspended in at 10 feet in about 25-30 feet water but could not get bit today by them. Alot more Bass will move to shoreline cover in the next few days with the air temps staying what they are.

Lake Palestine;

Water temps have moved in the upper 50's to low 60's and the present weathger will move water temps to the blessed 63 degree mark Bass love to move up to spawn. The buck(male) Bass have moved in which is a sure sign the Bigger female Bass are not far behind them. Bass were hitting Watermelon candy wacky rigged worms and Texas rigged Black and Chartruse claws also Black with blue claws worked along shoreline cover. There is alot of water in the North areas as well as Mid-lake coves where the Bass like to congregate and spawn. Cade Lake, Kickapoo, as well as Flat creek are in great shape.

Bookings for Guided trips to either of these lakes can be arranged by calling 903-478-2633 or 903-724-1203.

Thanks and God bless. Don Mattern Sr. with Mattern Guide Service.
