Default Techique for cool water bass fishing?

Got a chance last weekend to fish a smaller inland lake (175 acres). The surface temperature of the water was in the 60 to 62deg range. The lake has a sandy bottom with lots of weeds and the average depth is between 5 to 10 foot with a deep hole around 20ft in the very center.

How would you guys start to fish this lake for smallmouth bass? I tried spinners, small rapalas, and I tried Poppers at night with no luck. I was mainly fishing closer to shore in the 5 to 10 depth range.

Any suggestions or tips to finding the smallies in cooler water?

Thanks
