Uni-to-Uni Splice -- Power Pro/Monofilament

Well, I am officially "Going Green", and I bought some Power Pro. Moss Green; two spools of 20 lb. and one spool of 40 lb. I consulted the Power Pro Knot Guide and decide on the Uni-to-Uni Splice since it is strong, yet easy to tie.

I follow the rules....

1) Make the loop....
2) Wrap the line 5-6 times around the loop...
3) Cinch it up tight, repeat on the other side with monofilament....
4) Cinch it tight and pull the two Uni Knots together....

But here's my problem... When I go to cinch the monofilament down tight, it won't give me the "spiral" finish the PP does. Rather than making "spirals" and forming a "noose" look, and stacking up like normal, the "spirals" overlap eachother and cinch-up wrong. Whay is this? Does this make any sense whatsoever?
