the tricks with a cranking trees are #1 a square bill #2 keep it moving -never stop it-#3 feel the line movement. if you feel the line come across some thing and it feels like the bait is coming toward the surface your bait is under a limb. as you keep winding the bait will come up and the lip buy design will bounce over the limb and dig down once more..
if you do what some old school anglers talk about "pausin the bait after contact" this is the BIGGEST MISTAKE you can make when fishing trees. water forces the trebles up against the bottom of the bait and straight out during the retrive. stop it and they insantly fall with gravity. when they do they are 150% more likly to hang up... can ya tell i fish alot of trees with a crank.. zooker
