Those two things lead to some creative engineering.
My son couldn't wait for me to get home today and decided to add line to his new reel. (Which is a good thing in ways) Well, he added the wrong line. (4 lbs test on his BPS reel) and over filled it. I was just going to strip it all off and start over, but I am a little too cheap to just throw away brand new line. I was looking through the garage and came up with this plan. I took a 1/4 inch wooden dowel and cut it down about 10 inches in length. I then put it into my cordless drill, taped the end of th eline to dowel, hit the spool release and away I went. I was able to adjust where the line went onto the dowel and salvage the line. I have several 1/4 inch bushings from my table saw that I had replaced this spring. I drilled a hole to match the diameter of the bushing in a 2X4 and was able to hold the dowel straight, but all easily transfer the line onto the spinning reel for which it had been intended. I don't know how often I will attempt to transfer line, but the dowel worked well to remove it.
