Well, the Dick's sporting goods finally opened out here in the county. I had my $25 coupon and some money to spend so I made the 45 minute drive up to look around. I didn't have anything in particular in mind, so I had time time to look through everything.
I got to the store and glanced around the front before making my way to the sporting goods section. I walked up and down the isles before finally finding a sales associate. It was then that I received some very upseting and surprising news. That location did not carry any fishing gear! The associate explained that the gear was overlooked when they stood up the store. He was very appologetic, but I was still not very happy about the whole deal. How can a store like that forget to order fishing gear? As I was ready to leave, he mentioned that there was a tackle shop about 1/2 a mile down. Since I was in the area, I decided to check it out. I am glad that I did. The store was holding their grand opening sale this weekend. They had just about everything marked down 10% and they also had no sales tax. CA sales tak is 8.25% So not having to pay that simply meant more things in my tackle bag. I ended up picking up a new tackle bag (I can finally put everything in one bag). Some line, a couple of packs of hooks, a few misc lures, and 10 bags of plastics. They had a bunch of give aways going on and I was chosen for the 1100 raffle. I ended up with a 7'2" Shimano Crucial spinning rod with a Stradic 2500. I don't throw many spinning reels, but this is a nice setup. At the end of the day, I figure I got about $500-$600 worth of stuff for about $130. Not too bad considering the original disappointment of the day.
