This morning I decided to switch the line on my St. Croix Mojo Bass rod (7' M spinning). I couldn't decide between fluoro or braid. I figured both would have their uses. So I grabbed the extra spool that came with my Supreme and wound on some 6lb mono backing. I wanted to use 20lb braid, but all we had was 30. I figured it's only 8lb mono diamemter, it'll be fine.
After spooling it up, the line looped around the end of the rod. As I was untwisting it, I noticed the tip was messed up already. The braid, just from spooling it up, was starting to rub away at the tip. I don't know if it is just the black coating or if it's going to dig into the tip. My first thought was to run to Net Craft and pick up a Fuji SiC tip an replace it. But I'm thinking this will most likely void my warranty, and since the rod is new, I'm hesitant to void a 5 year warranty with with about 4years 10 months left on it. I don't really know what I was expecting from an 80 dollar rod though... BB
