Hello folks. Im really anal when it comes to my tackle. I fish at least one tournament a week and sometimes 2 a week in the summer. I rounded up different technique specific rods an reels to my liking. I have found that using the same reels in different ratios is more comfortable to me. Now im not a rich man by any means and i have been using Quantum reels, mostly the code aviso and kvd signature series. the problem i have with the code and the KVD's is that the magnetic control only has a free, 3,6,and 9 setting. I find at times this isnt as adjustable as i would like for them to be so I am on the Hunt for ONE series of reels that offers ALL of the popular gear ratios. I have somewhat settled on the carbonlite an the pro qualifier reels from BPS. They are basically the same reel with the exception of the carbonlite having a different handle. Other than that they have the same frame and layout.
SO heres my question. The carbonlite only comes in a 6:1 and i prefer a 7:1. My Quantums 7:1 takes up 31" per turn of the handle whereas the PQ in the same ratio takes up 29". AT THE SAME TIME the carbonlite is a 6.4:1 and it ALSO takes up 29" the same as the 7.1:1 PQ...what gives? |
