RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. -- The search for a missing fisherman resumed Wednesday at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

An empty boat that was spinning in circles, was discovered about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday near Highway 43 at the reservoir, the Reservoir Patrol said.

Witnesses said they had seen the man in the boat earlier and he was fishing, officials said. The boat is was registered to a Jackson resident whose family has been notified, Reservoir Patrol Chief Perry Waggener said.

Divers have been searching the area, the Reservoir Patrol said.

A command post for the search has been set up at Tommy's Trading Post.
