Default Cabin season is officially underway

Yesterday was Day 1 of our 7-day stay at our cabin, and I kicked it off with a 4.5 hour solo midday fishing session. It was crazy windy, so it was difficult to find spots I could hold well enough to fish. I ended with 12 LM and 1 pike (2lb 11oz, 22.5"). My best LM was 2lb 8oz, 16.75" and came on a jig & pig, as did the pike, while I was just letting the wind push me through one of my favorite spots...I didn't even have the trolling motor in the water, just drifted on whatever line the wind took me. Not really a picture-worthy fish, but here is one anyway.

My buddy Jeff and I went out for another 4.5 hours this morning, and although we never really hit a "hot spot", we did nab one or two at most spots we fished, so it was a solid morning of fishing. He finished with 17 fish and I boated 15 (13 LM, 1 SM, 1 pike), plus I fed two other pike whose teeth were too much for my 8 lb Fluoro to hold up to. Jeff caught the only fish over three pounds (3lb 2oz LM). My best was only 2lb 12oz, so no pics this time. The Smallie was 2lb 9oz and put up a real good fight, so that was fun.

Kaye made her first outing of the year with me this evening and caught 5 LM, with this one at 2lb 2oz, 14.75" being her best.

I managed to land 11 fish, all LM, during our 2.5 hours on the water. I finally hooked into a real good one for up here -- 17" and 3lb 8oz.

Our little girl Cassie, who we'll have had 5 months as of tomorrow, and who turned one year old this past Saturday, went on her first-ever boat ride and fishing trip with us. She did great! She was calm in the boat the whole time, even when fish came aboard, and really seemed to enjoy being out on the water with us.

And thus endeth Day 2. Looks like we're in for some rain and storms for much of the rest of the week, so the weather will dictate how much more fishing we can sneak in.
