Default Summer Smallies (I think)

Sometime in the near future my grandparents are moving to Greeneville tennesee. I will either be helping them move in late may/early june or visiting in Late june/ July. Their house is a 1/2 mile from the Nolichucky river, which I googled and found out that it has great smallies and trout. I know how to catch trout, but any smallie tips would be appreciated. (There is also a reservoir nearby, but I don't have a boat, only maybe a tube, and I don't know if I'll be able to get there)
