New rod suggestion
As I mentioned in another thread, I broke my rod breaking into my car. What I need is another rod. I want one that will travel with me at all times. One that will store easy in a car. I was thinking of this one at BPS. What do you guys think? I know it is a rod/reel combo but it breaks down into 5 pieces and it is only $39.99.
I know this rod and reel is too light for braid, so what line would you guys recommend and what brand? I think I will stick with the 4lb line but I normally fish braid so I need some advice with mono or fluoro. Also, would it handle a hawg (5lbs) if I happen to hook one? I like that it is only 4 1/2 feet in length so it makes casting from the "bushy" banks a little easier. |

I'd go with sometihng a bit better in quality. Maybe this.
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...002000_100-2-6 With the baitcaster of your choice, it would be great to keep in the car. You could use 20lb braid, and fish like a normal rod. Or if you wanted to go spinning, there's this. Pair it wwith an Abu G. 102, and you'd be good to go with some 8lb mono. or even 10lb braid.http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st..._SearchResults For braid, I like Sufix best, then Power Pro. For mono, Stren orginal, Stren super knot (thicker diameter though), and Sufix elite. BB
