If I had all the money I spent on cards I'd have a nice bass boat right now. How did the sales go on e-bay?

Cards are a tough sell man , I ran a card shop for years and there were only two or three cards I can remember going for full value. 1 of them being a cal ripken autograph but good luck on the sales man

I have a huge Cal Ripken colection besides all the other stuff. Cal was my guy along with Roberto Clemente. I bought a game used Cal Ripken bat off a man who owned a used sports item store. Wanted to get it signed so I went to Baltimore the year he broke the record. Stood outside the stadium after the game until Cal finally came out. He drove right by the crowd of fans but stopped further down the way to talk with a stadium guard. I ran down to where he was standing and did get to talk with him. I asked him if he would sign the bat. He said sorry but he couldn't. I guess he was under contract not to sign outside the ball park. He did however take the bat and look it over. To my dismay he said it was not a game used bat. He said come to tomorrows game and he would sign it after the game. I had to go home the next day and didn't get it signed. I didn't spend a lot on the bat so even though it wasn't game used he still held it which was good enough for me. When I got back home to Pittsburgh I found out the store where I bought it was closed. Learned a very good lesson.

Sports stuff is tough the only autographs I will deal with usually come out of sports pack or are bought straight from the collection houses otherwise it is just to much trouble to verify the authenticity.

Cal Ripken played the game the game for the love of the game not the money or fame. He is a living legend. Not to many around like that anymore.
