Buzz, is any of whats being said coming through to you? Lilmoose, myself, senko, doc, reb, zook and many more are all saying the same things. If you want to stick around take this as an intervention - learn from it. Like I said I have been trying to help you here. There is an old saying, children should be seen and not heard. I dont believe that is nessesarily true, but at the least you need to pipe down a whole lot. You really need to spend more time on the water learning and a lot less time trying to BS us. You arent an expert. Hell there are only maybe 4 or 5 experts here who have call to talk like they are authorities - and I aint one of them either. Everybody just kinda knows who is good and who isn't, who is full of ****, who to listen to. Right now you are lowest on the totem pole, focus on moving up a step at a time instead trying to act like a big eagle up at the top. Lizards and Cranky and several others came here knowing nothing and they have both turned into people I listen to - there are your examples - they should be who you look up to, not KVD.
Honestly, I think you would be best off if you just took 1 rod out for a while, put a jig on it and forced yourself to learn how to catch fish on that jig no matter what. It would keep your mind from going 150 mph through lures and tactics, and instead make you focus on what is important - the fish. And guess what, you can catch bass on a jig at any time anyways. If you arent catching them, you arent understanding them as well as they can be understood thats all - its a failure on the part of the fishermen and not the lure. All the technique specific talk is great, so is the lure and gear - it misses the point complelty though. You gotta learn to fish first. You gotta get what is like this 6th sense of where a fish is gonna be. Nobody can explain it fully to someone else but I feel like several here will know what I am talking about - its a confidence in knowing fish behavior well enough that you could eke out some bass on a hotdog threaded on a hook if you had to. Fishing is unlike working on cars, basketball, football, band - those sports and activities for youngsters are firmly grounded in a technical understanding of it. You need something else to be a truly great fisherman, you need experience doing the right and the wrong things, and sometimes the wrong experience turns out to be more valuable. Its just a feeling. Go out there, spend the next 4 months on the water, get that intrinsic connection with the fish and nature going and then you will have a start. I would rather listen to a kid who only fishes jigs and actually knows from experience how to do that than one who regurgitates the lies that the Roland Martins will sell you anyways. Another thing. Don't ever call me will again. For one thing I havent granted that we are on a first name basis. For another, will is not my name - at least not one I go by.

Buzz I know im new here, but it was one of the first things I noticed, back when you were lunker. At first I was like damn, that guy is annoying, he pipes in about everything, and posts a thread every week about what 200+ plus jiggin, sweeping, crankin, wormin, spinnerbait, topwater, etc new rod he has. Hell 1 post you made a while back you posted a pic of a reel and actually said " Yes, that is a shimano whatever the hell type reel it was." Like we were supposed to be in awe of it or something. I like decent gear myself not nocking anyone for that, but damn you cant be that full of knowledge at 14, just not possible.

I think what set me off was that post about line sizes, where he listed all the different line sizes for whatever technique he does - and there were like 15 different techniques listed - and he had spinnerbaits using 15 pound test and buzzbaits 17. Haha, who the hell could find a use in doing that? Then he defended that distinction based on personal preference and nothing else! Let alone who wants to spend money on all those different spools of line when you can do just as well with 3 different sizes and thats all. Being full of it is one thing, but that was absurd.

The sophomores are out in full force. Name-Calling 101.
In future, should someone ask me why I rarely even read here and even more seldom post, I'll refer them to this thread...and a few select others. Sad business. It'll really make an impression when all the "Summer Camper" youngsters drop in. I hope their parents take a gander too. A certain percentage of you will agree with me, though most of those will remain silent. A percentage will flame...mostly sophs, of course, with a few beer-fueled old hands chiming in. So it goes. Still sad, though. Good luck, y'all. Last edited by Lancer6; 05-10-08 at 06:54 AM. Reason: spelling |
