Default Coaching T-ball

My kids are playing T-ball this year and I have volunteered to coach their team. I'm sure this will be an enjoyable experience.

Anyone have any advice on how to keep control of a dozen 5 year olds?

I coached my sons team many years ago. There is no controlling them.

I coached my son through baseball and the biggest headache I had was parents....some of the better players wouldn't show up to game due to parents either not bringing them, or punishing them for something they did at home or school.
The kids are alright to coach for the most part, a hour or hour and a half.

I would recommend you ask for a few parents to help you out there buddy. Get two or three assistants (back up), and you can take turns when your patience runs out.
Seriously, it should be lots of fun and provide you with many good memoires.....Best Wishes for you and the team.

That was over 20 years ago that my son was in T-ball and they are very fond memories. Enjoy it while you can, they grow up quickly.

The first thing you will learn is that you don't control them. You will have some kids watching the sky, looking around at other kids and just about everything else you can think of. Make sure to bring a extra helping of patience because you are going to need it!

Stun gun. Or.....
When I was a "Drafted" Scoutmaster, I found that neutering calms 'em down nicely. See your local vet for a group rate.

My pop coached me in youth football for 5 years and we together have been coaching my little brothers team for 3 years... long story short, get you as many assistants as you can and start drinking now (just kidding). It's a lot of fun! The kids are great! The parents suck for the most part! Only advice I can give you is treat the kids as kids and just have fun. One thing is for sure, you are going to learn more from the kids then they are from you!

Have fun,

Jolly

Officially, one, and he retired from the US Navy in July '06. One darling granddaughter and a really hardnosed and great daughter-in-law.
I have always regretted not having another, especially a daughter to spoil semi-rotten.
Thanks for asking.

I don't suppose you'd settle for .0125 cents and a slightly used french fry.
Well, at least I offered!

PS: Were I you, I'd assassinate the photographer in retaliation for crimes against humanity. Well, after all, we beautiful people have a reputation to consider!!!
