well the shad rap #7 will only get down about 9-10 feet..the jointed in the 6-8 foot range dt-10 will go 10 feet. the #4 shad rap -bottom- 5-6 feet MAX..most #4 dont run straight for nothin.. the cc shad dig about 8-10 feet.. the model A will dig about the same as the fat free shad..
are you sure thats a dt-10?? thats aweful small for a dt-10 compared to a fat free shad.. zooker

I was thinking about getting a DT10 or DT16 this summer. Rapala's new Yellow Perch color should be great for around here since all the reservoirs and stuff have perch in them.
I do mostly use shallow baits. the deepest I have right now is a DT Flat 07. My favorite crankbaits are the Bandit 100 series. BB

Crankbaiting is my favorite power fishing technique. When I crankbait a lake I take into consideration a few things. First, is the bait in the lake. Some lakes I fish have shad, others have a type of sunfish, and others perch. I base my color selection on those factors, if the water is stained/clear. If the water is muddy, I go with a darker hue, and bigger profile, and usually Im hitting shallow cover/structure during those times. If the lake has a lot of rocks, which is my favorite to fish, and I hope it does, I use a lot of craw colors. I use mainly 3 brands of cranks. I use Strike King, Bandit Lures, and Rapala, for my billed cranks, as thats what I am assuming the thread is about. My depth selection is simple. If I am fishing 5 ft of water, I want a crankbait to run 6ft to 8 ft deep for deflection, not 3 to 5 ft. If I am fishing grass, I want my bait to run the tops of the grass, not being bogged in it. Submerged timber, I want to start off ticking the tops, then hitting the mid sections and bottoms. Stumps, I want to dig into the sides of, and deflect harshly off of them. Hope this helps a bit
